Information, not advice
Everything on this website — including the guides, articles and calculators — is general information about UK tax and accounting. It is not advice for your particular circumstances and must not be relied on as though it were.
Tax outcomes depend on the full picture: your other income, your residence and domicile position, reliefs you may be entitled to, losses brought forward, and decisions you have already made. A web page cannot see any of that.
Before acting on anything here, take advice on your own position. We are glad to give it — get in touch.
The calculators
Our calculators produce estimates based on published rates for the stated tax year, applying to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish income tax rates and bands differ.
They make simplifying assumptions, which are set out on each calculator. They do not account for every allowance, relief or charge that might apply to you. Figures are indicative and may be rounded. They are not a substitute for a computation prepared for your circumstances, and we accept no liability for decisions taken solely on the basis of a calculator output.
Accuracy and currency
We take reasonable care to keep this site accurate and current. UK tax rates and rules change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes retrospectively. We give no warranty that the content is complete or up to date at the moment you read it.
Prices shown
Prices on this site are indicative starting points and exclude VAT. They are not an offer capable of acceptance. Your actual fee is set out in a written quotation and confirmed in an engagement letter before any work begins.
Engagement
Using this website, sending an enquiry or booking a call does not create a client relationship. We act for you only once we have completed our client acceptance procedures — including anti-money-laundering identity checks and, where you are switching, professional clearance from your previous adviser — and both parties have signed an engagement letter.

Where we link to other websites, including GOV.UK and software providers, we do so for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or for anything you do in reliance on it.

The content, design, code and branding of this website belong to SMR Financials Ltd unless stated otherwise. You may read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not republish, sell or systematically copy the content without our written permission.

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for loss arising from use of this website or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Liability for professional services we provide to clients is governed by the engagement letter for that work, not by these terms.

If something is not right, tell us. Email shimmer@smrfinancials.co.uk and we will acknowledge promptly and respond substantively as quickly as we reasonably can. If we cannot resolve matters between us, you may be able to refer a complaint about professional services to our professional body.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes
We may amend these terms at any time. The version published here applies from the moment it is posted.
